Great Form
In my in class essay Ire read and decided to write about the chapter " Great Form" although it was a very short chapter it was very thorough. Tim O'Brien explained why he enjoyed writing story truth from happening truth. He even gives examples of the same situation written in story truth and it written in happening truth. By this chapter I could see where Tim O'Brien was coming from when he likes story truth better then the happening truth because as Tim O'Brien says " I want you to feel what I felt." and that's what he does with the story truth, he is able to make you feel something with the story truth other then the happening truth.

Proposal
The essay I plan on expanding is essay four, which analyzed hauling videos and how it's positive outcomes for the viewers, the YouTuber, and the company being marketed in the video. I selected this essay for expansion because I feel like this is the subject I know the most about and feel like I could go in depth a lot easier in this essay then I could in any others. To expand I plan on using maybe two more YouTubers as an example because in the first paper I only used one. I also plan using examples of the deals the viewers get by watching these videos such as a sale price or sometimes even a chance to win the exact same piece of clothing or accessory as the YouTuber who filmed the video. I also plan on researching how these hauling videos help the company featured in these videos.
Key Terms:
Key Terms:
- Zoellas YouTube Videos (more examples of haulers)
- How does hauling videos benefit companies
- Positive effects of Hauling Videos
- Deals YouTubers get from companies
- Why have hauling videos become a huge epidemic

The Things They Carried
in the chapter "enemies" Lee Strunk and Dave Jensen get into a brutal fist fight over a stolen jack knife. Strunk started going a little crazy and broke his own nose because he was so paranoid that Jensen would eventually hit him back, so he did it himself and inflicted his own injury.
in the chapter "friends" Jensen and Strunk became very close and had made a promise to each other that if one of them got so hurt they would have to be in a wheel chair for the rest of their lives that the other one would take the other persons life. Strunk had stepped on a rigged mortar blowing off his right leg up to his knee. Jensen did not keep his promise because Strunk begged him not to kill him, so Jensen didn't kill him, but he ended up dying anyways.
Response: I think it's crazy the effects that war can have on someone. It can make someone so crazy they break there own nose. I understand why Jensen did not kill him, I could not take someones life especially one of my closest friends. It would be hard to see everything that comes with the war.

Ain't So/ Is Not
Summary:
In the book They I Say by Gerrald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein there is a chapter called Aint So/Is Not and in this section of the book they talk about how you don't always have to use scholarly language, at times it is okay to use slang. It says to be aware of who your audience is and the subject of your paper because at times it may be inappropriate to use slang. At times it is smarter to use slang for the audience you are targeting because in today's world a lot of the time slang is more understood than scholarly language would be.
Response:
I completely agree with what they are saying. At times when I write papers I find myself trying to use only scholarly words, but honestly a lot of the time it just sounds so boring. Don't get me wrong I do know the correct time to use slang so I take advantage. There is a time when it is inappropriate to use slang.I agree that people just need to learn when it is and is not appropriate.

Ian Daly "Virtual Popularity Isn't Cool-It's Pathetic"
Summary:
In " Virtual Popularity Isn't Cool-It's Pathetic" by Ian Daly, he explains his reasoning why virtual popularity isn't cool. One of his examples is when employers go to hire a lot of them look you up on the internet, and when they search your name your pictures from Facebook pop up. They can see every picture you have put up and if they don't agree with the lifestyle you portray on the internet they can easily resign their job offers. Ian Dale goes on to say that you don't need to put every aspect of your life on Facebook because everyone doesn't need to know everything about your life and if they did they could just call you.
Response:
I agree with what Ian Daly is saying. People today don't realize that putting everything you do in your social media accounts can hurt you. Even if it's not on your page personally and your still tagged in it your employers can find it and it can potentially hurt you. Colleges and employers really look at your social media accounts to see what type of person they are going to bring into their work or school and if you have inappropriate things you can jeopardize everything. So I agree with Daly when he says being cool on the internet isn't actually cool it can affect a lot of your life.

Summary:
In the women's women section of Steve Craigs article "Men's men amd Wome's women" a weight watchers commercial
is presented showing a young thin woman in a revealing bathing suit, she oroceeds to say " I hate diets... but i lose weight fast on weight watchers new program" then the camera proceeds to a the same woman in a different setting who "hates starving herself" and proceeds to promote weight watchers and how " with their fast and flexible program i don't have to" . The setting continues changing with her saying more positive things about the Weight Watchers program and how easy it is to lose weight while using Weight Watchers.
Response:
While reading this ad I predicted what was going.to happen through out the ad, tje woman was going to continue saying how "easy it is to lose weight with Weight Watchers" While the woman in this was being relatable in the sense that all women can lose weight as easy as she could on Weight Watchers I feel it's a little unreliale. With all these commercials saying how "easy" it is to lose weight, i feel like its unreliable especially with the women they get to play in these ads who are usually fit with abs, which you usually don't get fit with only weight Watchers, you usually have to exercise to get those results
